Antelope, cattle, and deer that live today have horns (and antlers) that resemble some of the horns of ceratopsian dinosaurs. Living animals use their horns to struggle for dominance in their herds and gain mating rights; only occasionally do they use them against predators. Ceratopsian dinosaurs are now known to have been herding animals too. They probably used their horns in much the same way as living horned animals.
